I have wanted to do a lot of things over the years. Thinking back I have been lucky enough to try most of them. Some of the things I have wanted to do are not the easiest to achieve and probably don’t sit well with the life coaching goal setting mantra (SMART).
Some of the more obscure things I have wanted to do in my life so far include; becoming a downhill skier! I spent a couple of months in Aspen learning to ski whilst working in a restaurant on the slopes. I had a great time and did indeed learn how to ski much better. I quickly realised however that becoming a downhill skier was a little bit unrealistic for me, not least because of my age!

I have also wanted to compose and play a hit single tune on the piano, a bit like Robbie Williams – ‘Angels’ or Elton John and the myriad of hit singles he has under his belt. I haven’t yet tried to do this mainly because I can’t play the piano well enough! Learning the piano is more of a life goal (it might take me my whole life) for me, and who knows maybe one day I will compose a number one hit!

I haven’t yet tried Rally Driving. I am not sure why! I love the thrill of speed and the feeling you get when you’re screeching round a corner as fast as you can without spinning out. Of course I’ve been Go Carting but I bet it isn’t the same. I would love to learn how to drive fast properly and in something with a lot of power!

I’m not really sure there has been anything I’ve wanted to do but haven’t, simply because I’ve been afraid to try. Sure a lot of things are pretty scary but to be honest this is probably one of the things that drives me to do things in the first place. I admit for example that I’m afraid of big hairy spiders. I would love to get over that fear, and perhaps one day I will. Although I’m scared of them (which I realise is pretty irrational) I am not afraid to try and beat the fear.
