It’s good to be Passionate about something

I’m writing down five things that I am passionate about, things that inspire me, things that I could not imagine life without! Try it -You might be surprised by what you think!

1 – My children – This has to be number one for me. I see having children as a two way thing. On one hand I am fully conscious of how everything I do and how I choose to do it can have an effect on the development of my children.  They are like big sponges! It’s an incredible feeling to know that you are in a large way responsible for shaping and nurturing another human being. On the other hand the innocence, the crazy running around and having fun (I’ve got two boys) and the implicit love they show to me as their father is unbeatable.  Don’t get me wrong though, they can be a right pain in the ass too, but it’s much deeper than that; what we provide and give to each other is unbeatable.

2 – Travelling / the big wide world  – I have done a lot of travelling in the past, mostly during my twenties! I had a ball and one of the reasons why I had a ball was that I was genuinely passionate about learning and experiencing new places, especially the places that are so different as compared to Western countries. I also loved exploring and seeing natural wonders of the world. It is truly unforgettable when you see something that leaves you in awe! I rarely travel nowadays but the passion still remains, most definitely!

3 – All things Spanish / Latino – I spent a lot of time in South America a number of years ago and even ended up marrying  a Peruvian girl (although we are now divorced!) I learnt to speak Spanish and really got to immerse myself in Latino culture. I love the heat, the less hectic way of life, the music and the language.  I would say that I am more passionate about the Spanish language more than anything else. 4 – Moving forward / New experiences  – This is one is a little more generic than my other passions. I love learning and experiencing new things in life. I wouldn’t say that I am massively extrovert but I am very curious about lots and lots of different thing and I am always looking ahead to the next challenge.

5 – Trees / Bridges – Weirdly I have always had a bit of a passion for old giant looking trees and huge bridges. I am not totally sure why! I think the tree thing come from the philosophical notion of an ancient tree seeing hundreds of years of human history in its lifetime. Big bridges on the other hand just look so cool!
