If I think about what prevents me from doing the things I want to do or the things that scare me a bit I guess it would come down to prioritising what is important to me in my life. Sure, I would like to Rally Drive or get over my fear of spiders but they are not really things at the forefront of my mind. I had to think hard just to come up with them in order to write this!

To be honest, if I really wanted to do something, and assuming I was a little afraid or apprehensive about doing it but still believed it was worth pursing based on everything else going on in my life I would find a way to do it.

I think sometimes we are prevented from doing the things we want to do in life because of logistical or other practical reasons. Some of the things I want are more likely to materialise later on in my life once I have more spare time and am less constrained by financial obligations and family!

I don’t think ‘knowing that I couldn’t fail’ would make a whole lot of difference to me when I decide what I want from life or want I want to do. Actually some of my best decisions have come about as a result of failures. Of course I don’t want to fail, in fact one of the strongest driving forces I have is to be very successful in something, (something which must be able to provide me with a decent living).

A better question might be: What would I do if I knew I was going to fail? It would take an awful lot of courage to invest time and energy into something knowing that you will not succeed at it. I guess you would need to think hard about why you are doing the thing you are doing, what the implications of failure would be, whether it would affect you financially, whether failure really matters or even if failure could be just as beneficial as success (but in a different way)! Perhaps the satisfaction of trying would overpower the realisation that failure is inevitable!
